Your Tinnitus

Although your case of tinnitus is specific to you, these are universal suggestions you can use until you can get to your physician or healthcare specialist regarding your tinnitus.

Don't over react: Try not to get scared, angry or upset whenever you notice your tinnitus (I know, easy for me to say). Tinnitus is more of a symptom than an actual disease. Although it's important for you to take your tinnitus serioulsy, the added stress you cause by worrying can actually make it worse.

Educate yourself: You are doing that right now by reading this. This website and others on our referral list will provide you with good information to guide you in the right direction.

Take action: Schedule an appointment to see your family physician. He or she will be able to rule out some general clinical causes to your tinnitus. If needed, they will refer you to a specialist to further discern the causes, treatment options and preventative measures you need to deal with and possible reduce your tinnitus.

Keep trying: If you need more help that your physician or specialist was unable to provide, look for a second opinion.,

There are many things that a qualified tinnitus specialist can do to help you. Some patients obtain full relief, others less, but anything you do to take control back of your life will be worth it.

To see if you should seek clinical advice, simply fill out the Tinnitus Reaction Questionnaire (TRQ) to get your personal TRQ score.
